Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2010: Theatre

Authentic Artist Collective/Kath Burlinson/Escalator East to Edinburgh present: WOLF: Let Us Prey

Theatre for the senses exploring the ecology and mythology of wolves.  An unpredictable, sexy and magical journey in Edinburgh’s atmospheric Caves, with text and lyrics from National Theatre of Scotland’s Iain Finlay Macleod (St Kilda – the Opera, Edinburgh International Festival 2009) and music from Kerry Andrew (BBC Radio 3, Classic FM). Who is afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?  Should wolves be reintroduced in Scotland?

WOLF is highly atmospheric interactive mythic theatre. It includes physical storytelling, song and new writing on themes both contemporary and ancient. WOLF explores the ecology, psychology and mythology of these extraordinary creatures that have inspired and terrified us since the beginning of time.  ‘One of the most charismatic productions of the Pulse festival’ Maddog Magazine. Scientific Adviser: Prof Tim Coulson, Imperial College, London

The Authentic Artist Collective features performers from Cirque du Soleil, Kneehigh, David Glass Ensemble, Dreamthinkspeak, Mathew Bourne’s Adventures in Motion Pictures, and the National Theatre in London.  The Authentic Artist Collective was formed by Kath Burlinson in 2009. WOLF is their first production. Kath’s solo show, The Mother’s Bones, won a Manchester Evening News Award for Best Fringe Performance and toured to festivals in the UK and internationally.  ‘Rare, unafraid and hauntingly beautiful' METRO (on The Mother’s Bones)

WOLF has been selected for Escalator East to Edinburgh.  Each year Escalator East to Edinburgh helps artists and arts organisations to raise their profile and perform to new audiences as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
